A) How do you adjust your seat? Do you move it until it feels comfortable or is there some actual method you use to setting your seat the "correct" way for dd and/or mountain runs?

B) How do you get back to your setting after someone else moves your seat around? Do you memorize the clicks or just play with it again until you reach that optimal position?

  • I make sure my lower back/butt is pressed all the way in to the seat back (this is to make sure my CG-LOCK keeps me in nice and tight).
  • I slide the seat forward and back until I can get full pedal travel without bending my knees (other than the clutch, I usually bend my knee on that pedal)
  • I then make sure the steering wheel height is at a level that allows me clearance for my right knee when it comes up during a heel/toe downshift and also allows for an unobstructed view of my gauges.
  • Then I adjust the seat back angle until my arms are a more than slightly bent with both hands at 9 and 3 on the wheel, or whatever is comfortable.
  • Seat height is adjusted to allow clearance for my knee to twist when heel/toeing.

There is a "correct" driving position. This is the general setup ...

Adjust your seat forward so that your left leg can depress the clutch fully with your knee slightly bent. This may put your knee a little close to the wheel, but if there is no contact it will be fine. Adjust the wheel height if needed.

Now, sit with your back against the seat and your shoulders straight, and place your right hand on the top on the wheel. your hand should rest on the wheel somewhere between the very bottom of your palm and your wrist.

This should be comfortable and you should not have to reach or move your shoulder forward. Adjust the angle of the seat back as needed until you can comfortably rest your hand in this manner. It's likely that you'll be reclined a little less than normal.

I go through these motions any time the seat is moved. Mine has developed a "catch" where my seat usually rests, so it's usually a quick reset for me. Adjusting my seat in most vehicles takes less time than adjusting the mirrors ...

I set my seat to where I can barely touch the pedals with my feet, set the height high enough to where my knees touch the steering wheel so I can steer with my knees while text messaging, and also lean it way back with the gangsta-lean.

Every now and then I lean over the center console, not only does it look cool, but it keeps my head from hitting the roof.

i ride gangsta

j/k

i do pretty much have my seat all the way back cuz i have long legs. and i also like it all the way up (height wise) so i can see my front end clearance very well. and the back is leaned to the first spot lower than 100% vertical (backwards).

I slide the a** forward and back until I can get full pedal travel
without bending my ankles (other than the clutch, I usually bend my knee
on that pedal)I then make sure the steering wheel height is at
a level that allows me clearance for my right ankle when it comes up
during a heel/toe downshift and also allows for an unobstructed view of
my hair. Then I adjust the seat back angle until my crotch is more than slightly bent with both hands in my pants, or whatever is comfortable.Seat height is adjusted to allow clearance for my penis to twist when heel/toeing.
